Michael LaBombard gained an interest in the fire and emergency services at a young age hearing stories about the 25+ years his grandfather spent on the Burlington Fire Department. During high school, Mike spent two years gaining knowledge within the medical field in the Burlington Technical Center’s Sports Medicine Course. Mike attended Johnson State College in Vermont, graduating with a B.A in Psychology. During his time in college, Mike joined the Essex Fire Department in 2010 and began taking classes in fire and emergency services. Mike then spent three years in the volunteer/call-staff system of the Fire Service. In 2013, Mike was hired by the Burlington Fire Department and is now assigned as a Lieutenant on Engine 1 in Downtown Burlington. Mike has spent the last 10 years following in his grandfather’s footsteps with one of his greatest accomplishments being the completion his Paramedic in 2019.

Mike is Vermont State Instructor/Coordinator and has pioneered an initial entry EMT training program with the Burlington Technical Center. Due to Mike’s dedication and love for teaching, students who attend and successfully graduate from this program are eligible to test for their National Registry certification.
